What is Red Dog

Red Dog is a fairly newer card game which has gained quite a bit of popularity with casino players. This game can be a whole lot of fun and the great news for players thinking about learning it is that it is fairly simple to pick up on.

Red Dog rules are easy and in no time at all, a new player will be well on their way to enjoying Red Dog games to their fullest. This game is also known by many other names, some of which are Ace-Deuce, Yablon, In Between, and others. The rules are the same.

Red Dog is played on tables which are the size of Blackjack tables and it is played with a shoe which holds six card decks. In a casino there can be as many as 16 players participating in a game of Red Dog.

How to Play Red Dog

In Red Dog, the cards will have the following card values:

•    Cards 2 through 10 are worth their face value.
•    Jacks are worth ten points.
•    Queens are worth twelve points.
•    Kings are worth thirteen points.
•    Aces are worth fourteen points.

The game begins when the player makes a bet and the dealer takes two cards from the shoe, positioning those two cards face up on the table. The player will need to decide if they want to raise the bet or not. The dealer will then deal out a third card. If the value of that third card happens to fall between the values of the other cards, then the player will win. The original bets will be paid out at even money while the raised bets will be paid out according to a scale which depends on how close to the other two cards are to each other. If the dealer should happen to deal out two consecutive cards, then a push occurs. When two consecutive cards are dealt, the dealer will go ahead and deal out that third card immediately. Should this cause a three of a kind then the player will receive a payout of 11:1.

Although Red Dog is a very simple game to get the hang of, it offers a lot of excitement. One of the things new players like so much about this game is they don’t need to take a lot of time to learn it and they will be able to pick it up the first time around. Anyone looking forward to playing Red Dog will be glad to know that it is available at most online casinos.

Red Dog Strategy

One rule of thumb for playing Red Dog with strategy is fairly straightforward.

If the spread of the two cards is 7 or higher, a player should double. The main reason for this Red Dog strategy is that the player only has an edge over the house when the spread of the two cards dealt is 7 or higher. This is due to the fact that in a 7-card spread, there are at least 7 cards that will give the player a winning hand. With only 13 cards from two through to an Ace, there are only 6 cards that will give the player a losing hand.

This strategy gives the player around a 54% chance of winning the game.

So, knowing your Red Dog strategy, double on spreads of 7 through to 11 to cut the house’s chances of winning.
